About the Hall

  • The hall is 16m x 9m and 6m high at the apex of the barrel-vaulted roof.
  • Max capacities are 200 for events where visitors are not seated such as exhibitions or horticultural shows; 140 (170 by special arrangement) seated theatre-style (depending on whether space is required for lighting desks or access to the kitchen hatches for the serving of refreshments); or 120 at tables, in addition to performers on the stage.
  • The stage can double as a viewing gallery with tables and seating, provided a frontage barrier is established for reasons of safety. (planters & artificial foliage are available for this).
  • There are 12 skylights, all with integral blackout blinds. 4 of the skylights open to enable cooling ventilation.  All operations are controlled from simple panels, one on each side of the hall.
  • Lighting can be varied according to the mood required using the extensive LED panels and tube lighting (part dimmable) and coloured uplighters.
  • The area is equipped with a public address system with audio (CD) input and wireless mikes. There is also a hearing loop (tune aids to ‘T bar’).  A screen on the stage is available for projection for the use of regular user groups.
  • About 50 chairs are normally stored around the walls with other chairs and tables stored in the furniture store at the rear of the hall.
  • Two serving hatches provide access to the kitchen.
  • The sprung timber floor is especially suitable for dancing, and there is a clearly marked badminton court. A 4m run of dance mirrors & barres is on the side wall behind the beige curtains.
