Upton-by-Chester Village Hall

Climate Control

The central heating is regulated by a smart thermostat that is set up to provide an agreed temperature for each of the many and varied regular activities throughout the week.  As such it should not be adjusted.

In the roof of the main hall there are two destratification fans that continuously send thin columns of air down to the floor, recirculating warm air throughout the hall.  As such these fans operate permanently 24 hours a day.

There are two quiet, oscillating tower fans to help cool the hall on hot summer days.  There are also two larger floor fans that are more powerful but noisier on high settings.  All four fans are kept in the Storeroom.

The radiator in the Meeting Room is on the same circuit as those in the Main Hall.  As a result, extra heating may be required if there is a physical activity taking place in the hall that requires a lower temperature.  A small fan heater is available for warming up the room quickly and there is an electric radiator for longer sessions.

The skylights have remotely controlled blinds and the centre window in each group opens – again remotely controlled.  Opening these windows will provide good additional ventilation, and the blinds can shut out solar glare.  These functions are controlled by two simple panels on either side of the Hall, one for each bank of skylights.

Finally, a portable dehumidifier is employed during periods of high humidity.
